The President writes:
I would like to begin
this edition of “What’s Hot” by informing you
that this publication is being sent as a word document that you can print
and it will also be placed on the website with the live links. This is in
response to the feedback I have received and hopefully will cater for the
needs of all Principals.
For those of you who
do not receive or have access to the Sydney Morning Herald there was an
article published on Friday August 4th entitled “Tebbutt calls
for federal boost to state schools” In this article the
Minister stated she has written to her federal counterpart, Julie Bishop,
to complain that government primary schools are under funded” The
article further addresses the anomalies within the funding arrangements.
This article is directly related to SRAPS 3 and the on-going research.
The National Association APPA has now moved into action in this area
because NSW has brought this to the fore front for discussion. They will
be seeking a meeting with the Federal Minister Julie Bishop as soon as
possible and they will be writing to all politicians within the next few
weeks highlighting this anomaly. If this was rectified it would mean, as
a nation, there would be an extra $101 million dollars available to
Public Primary Schools. I am sure like me we wish APPA well in their
endeavours to address this anomaly.
As a side issue the
NSWPPA was also quoted in the article.
“Application to Enrol”
There has been a great deal of feedback in
regard to the Memo re the new processes around the “Application
to Enrol”. Both the Executive of the NSWSPC and the Executive
of the NSWPPA had intense and productive input into the memo and its
content. In addition both Associations raised a number of concerns in
regard to the new “Application to Enrol” forms. To
this end could you please send any concerns to me at my email address, I
will then collate them and pass them on to the DET Officers so that when
a new print run is ordered these concerns can be addressed. There are
many, legal, federal and state legislative requirements associated with
the forms but we can still forward our concerns and try to have the best
compromise possible. It is up to us to give reasoned and rational
arguments for change as ultimately we are all working towards the
promoting of Public Education and presenting an image to the Public which
is highly professional. Thank you for your assistance with this matter
SBSRv2/SBSRv3
We have received a
communication which states:
Based on the
experience of, and feedback from, schools that used SBSRv2 the Department
will develop SBSRv3. SBSRv3 will be a web-based application that will
increase accessibility, reduce issues of downloading and installation
etc. Detailed advice on SBSRv3 will be distributed to schools during the
Week of August 7th.
The information to
schools will list a set of Key Preparation activities to be undertaken
during Term 3 and training on how to use the software will occur at the
beginning of Term 4.
Keep your eye out for
this information.
