Occupational Health and Safety Matters!

The NSWPPA intends to make this page a reference point where Principals can download Excursion Risk assessments that have been completed by other schools to assist in the development of their own. Samples will be added progressively.

The tool is designed to support principals and schools through the review of their OHS systems and the provision of regional support where needs are identified. The tool is designed to be used at the school level where, for example, principals with their executive staff and OHS committee would work through the whole document over a period of time checking compliance in all major sections.

The OHS Action Plan was developed within the legislative framework of the OHS Act 2000 and OHS Regulation 2001, as a tool to enable workplaces to plan for the effective management of occupational health and safety.
The plan summarises the key areas for OHS compliance within DET schools and offices. It is a resource which will support workplaces to comply with legislative requirements.

To support schools in implementing the Department's Excursions Policy, the OHS Directorate has created a database of venue and safety information for common excursion sites. Part of the Excursion Policy requires the school to develop a risk management plan and risk assessment. Note that NSWDET does not endorse the information provided by external excursion venues. This database can be accessed by logging into the DET portal here. Follow the "Intranet Home" link. then the "Occupational, Health and Safety" Link and then "Excursions".
